Ad Sales for ACI Program Shell

REMEMBER FRIDAY, OCTOBER 20!

Are you planning to sell an ad in the ACI program shell to one or more businesses?   Have you contacted the business(es) yet? If not, move fast!  The deadline for everything to come in – ads, checks, and agreements – is less than a month away: Friday, October 20.

ICC&CS chorus members have done a terrific job of signing up to sell ads, and if you all make your sales, this fund-raising drive will be one of our most successful.  But success depends on your taking two important steps: (1) contacting the business and selling the ad, and (2) following-through to receive the check, agreement, and ad, or to ensure that they are sent in to ACI by Friday, October 20.

I have once again attached the forms you need (advertiser’s agreement and introductory letter) to this newsletter.  If you have questions, have forms or checks to give me, or want to bring me up to date on your progress, you can reach me at rehearsal.  I’m also readily available at kkg1@cornell.edu.

Thank you for your help with this project: it couldn’t succeed without you!

Justice Choir Ithaca October SING

Justice Choir Ithaca holds the second open SING on Sunday October 8, 2-3 pm at First Presbyterian Church, 315 N. Cayuga St, Ithaca. Our first SING drew 80 enthusiastic singers, our list has over 150 names, and we continue to grow.

Open to all, including families, we join at periodic SINGS, for spirit and to learn songs to sing at future events. Please join our email list at justicechoirithaca@gmail.com. Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/JusticeChoirIthaca/. Go to the Justice Choir Ithaca October SING Facebook event and download the songs! And show up with a friend!

One opportunity is already scheduled! Justice Choir Ithaca is part of the program for the family-friendly Lift Every Voice concert on Oct 14, a benefit for Village at Ithaca. It is at 6 pm at St Paul’s United Methodist Church, 402 N. Aurora St, Ithaca. Anyone is welcome to download and bring Andrea Ramsey's "I Lift My Voice” https://www.facebook.com/events/1801566976550665/?acontext=%7B%22ref%22%3A%22106%22%2C%22action_history%22%3A%22null%22%7D

Justice Choir Ithaca is a chapter choir of the organization in Minneapolis MN. http://www.justicechoir.org/about.html. Our founders include Jennifer Lawrence Birnbaum, Choir Director of the First Unitarian Society; Sean Linfors, Assistant Professor of Choral Music Education at Ithaca College, and Susanne Morgan who maintains our lists. Additional song leaders include Krista Easton, local music teacher; Steve Spinelli, Assistant Director of Choral Programs at Cornell and more…..

As a chapter choir, we are the living, breathing embodiment of the Justice Choir Songbook. We will lead songs at community events and teach others how to sing and lead the songs. More like a civic organization than a traditional musical ensemble, Justice Choir's programming and message revolves primarily around local issues and the urgency of current events. If a leader is available, we have enough singers to respond “pop-up” style to issues in our local communities: singing at marches, rallies, vigil, houses of worship, or anywhere a marginalized sector is needing a bigger voice.

New members are always welcome: join the email list at justicechoirithaca@gmail.com or come to a sing or an event with a friend.
2018 Commencement Weekend: ICC&CS Bed & Breakfast

The Chorus has been hosting families of Cornell University’s graduating students for about 25 years. It’s a service that visiting families really appreciate, and it’s also a relatively painless way to raise funds for the Chorus.

Memorial Day weekend is always Cornell’s Commencement weekend. Cornell posts not-for-profit organizations that host families for B&B during Commencement weekend. Potential guests give us details of their needs – then we match them with a host family. The finances are handled by the ICC coordinator. Your cost of hosting (food, etc) is tax deductible.

I know – it’s difficult to commit to hosting this far away from Memorial Day! Do you have an available guest bedroom? One meets many delightful people who are thrilled to be staying in a home close to campus. The financial benefits to the Chorus are very much appreciated. Do contact me if you’d like more information about hosting.
