Montreal, May, 28th, 2013 - From June 12 to June 16 2013, the Festival International Montréal en Arts (FIMA) is organising an interactive, accessible and off course festive 14th edition! The BoulevArt expands on a 1 km stretch and will welcome hundreds of artists, exhibitors and performers. This year, the word is diversity: diversity of exhibitors forms of art and visitors.

The BoulevArt will settle into Ste-Catherine Est St. which is a pedestrian mall during the summer season, between St-Hubert St. and Papineau St. More than 75 professional and emerging artists from visual arts to crafts will exhibit their creations in a giant open air gallery. By pulling art out of galleries, FIMA wants to create a space favouring interaction between artists and the public and to permit artists to create their own networks.

FIMA has chosen to develop interaction between public and performance artists. Emilie Gamelin square will therefore be characterized by street art as hosting for the first year the Urban Totem V2.0 project.  From 13th to 15th June, five artist collectives will be presenting urban art through a collective effort that will consist in five totems which put colors and patterns designed by the New-York artist Gaia, the Montreal collectives’ En Masse and Cease, Torontonians Trio Magnus and ethnic group Bruxas Crew.

FIMA allows children to participate actively to the festival. Alone or accompanied, they will be invited to take part in two projects which focuse on the thought and interaction between kids and artists. My first art gallery is an art gallery for children under the age of 13. Only children have access. Kid’s workshop. A kid creativity project will take place during the festival. This paper totem design workshop will be exclusively for the kids. Coloring pencils, paint, glue, scissor will be available for the kids to use. They can also ask FIMA artists for  help  in order to realize their artwork.

This year, Decover magazine will include an event during the Festival International Montreal en Arts. From June 13th to 16th The Décover Area will open its doors to Étienne Chartrand and Zoltan Veevaete, two montreal artists who will create a collective artwork. Rendez-vous at Parc de l’Espoir (St-Catherine and Panet) to watch this live performance.

At The Movies programs is part of the 14th FIMA evenings.
