Psalm 37:7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
DO NOT FRET
This is easier said than done, isn't it? In your life as a faithful steward under your Master Christ Jesus, many things tend to get in the way, including worry and fret over money.
Our brains like to come up with solutions to our own problems. When we wake up and realize that we have enslaved ourselves to more lenders than we care to acknowledge, we might think that the solution is more income. Perhaps we are enticed by "get rich quick" schemes. You've heard the advertisements before. They promise and extra five or ten thousand dollars a month working part time from home. Your head is filled with visions of tropical vacations and new cars as you listen to testimonials of people who have actually become wealthy through the midnight cable television "no money down payment" system. Do people actually make money through these schemes and systems? Perhaps. The Lord through the psalmist brings to our attention the danger of turning to "wicked schemes" to gain prosperity.
Even if we avoid the traps and schemes of con-men, we might think that we can escape being servants to the lender by working harder and adding more money to pay more bills. This would be only partially true.
For real peace, "rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him." The Lord's plan for your life involves being content with what we have, and seeking His kingdom above all else. Being content with what God has blessed us, and cutting off more spending brings rest. Adding more money to an overspending problem leads to further sorrow.
Avoid the wicked schemes of men, and wait patiently in the Lord's wisdom and direction. Rest secure in the peace that the Lord through Christ has provided you.
