Dear Neighbors,
Tomorrow is Election Day for the 1st Ward run-off.

I'm reaching out to remind you to vote for Rafi Córdova. I have seen Rafi’s dedication to public service and his commitment to helping others. If elected First Ward Councilman, Rafi will be able to build on his work serving our community for the last 20 years.

If you need a reason to vote for Rafi, I ask you to take two minutes and read my endorsement, highlighting Rafi’s sincere compassion for his neighbors.

The contrasts between Rafi and his opponent are real. Rafi will not weaponize real peoples’ problems for political advantage, as his opponent’s supporters did in a widely blasted text message sent in the last 48 hours. Rafi has been working hard in his volunteer capacity as Chair of the Rent Board to ensure fairness for both tenants and property owners, and using his knowledge to combat corporate landlords’ unconscionable rent increases city-wide.

I ask undecided First Ward residents also to consider meaningful endorsements from former Police Chief Ken Ferrante, Corneliu and Carmen Rusu – owners of Symposia Bookstore, and Council President Emily Jabbour. These endorsements are a testament to Rafi’s ability to build support both from those who have lived here all their lives, as well as those who moved here to make Hoboken their home.

Polls are open from 6 am to 8 pm, and you can find your polling location here or here.

In a low-turnout runoff election held on December 5th, rather than a regular Election Day, every vote is crucial.

Rafi is on the ballot in position 1B.

Thank you for voting,
Phil Cohen
