"We're making our music into electric church music-a new kind of Bible, not like in a hotel, but a Bible you carry in your hearts, one that will give you a physical feeling. We try to make our music so loose and hard-hitting so that it hits your soul hard enough to make it open. It's like shock therapy or a can opener. Rock is technically blues-based. Rock is like a young dragon until the establishment gets hold of it and turns it into a cabaret act with the big voice and the patent-leather shoes and the patent-leather hair."

-Jimi Hendrix

Greetings to all of you Mana-"tee heads". This is the first Ranger Report of 2007.

The news at this hour: Last week Los Manatees finally had their first official rehearsal with new drummer Mr. Jimmy Cavanaugh ("The Cavanaugh Phenomenon"). Up until now he's been learning everything "on the fly". Can you believe it? What next? Well now we've given him his own microphone so everyone can hear our amusing in-between-the-songs stage banter…More rehearsals to follow…

This Friday evening (Feb. 2) Manatee singer/percussionist Kathleen Weber will be appearing at the Keswick Theater in Glenside, PA performing with The Angel Band/David Bromberg Band. They are in the middle of a cross-country tour.

On Thursday, April 22, Los Manatees will be rockin' The Rising Sun (formerly The Bell House) in Telford, PA for their official Grand Opening. It's also a fund-raiser for Grandview Hospital complete with a silent auction. You will actually be able to bid on (among other things) your own personal Manatee show! Early showtime is 7:00pm.

We have recently been back in Dylanava Studios in Blue Bell, PA working on the final mixes of our long-awaited studio album, "The Infinite Pleasure of the Indefinitely Prolonged". A spring release date is planned.

Uncle Ronkle has been hard at work over at Ronkle Records on the Los Manatees I-tunes Pod-cast. Stay tuned for a link on our web-site. (Yes, soon I will be narrating these Ranger reports.)

DJ Big Daddy (aka Scott Gourley) has been sitting in and guest-singing with Los Manatees for many years. Not only did he recently celebrate a birthday but now he fronts his own band, "Big Daddy & the Fender Benders" a six-piece rhythm & blues review. Check them out at www.bigdaddyfenderbender.com (In their group photo, Scott is the one wearing the Manatee-shirt.)

Saxophonist John Bian (formerly from Ten Feet Tall) has begun playing semi-regularly with Los Manatees and we are delighted to have him on stage. Welcome aboard, John.

Upcoming shows include our debut performance at The Sellersville Theater on Thurs., April 5. For a look at a poster of the show click here. Proceeds will benefit the Annual 3-Day Cancer Walk.

Well that's it for now dear friends. Stay warm and warm-hearted. And if anyone has a used mini-van for sale let me know. Thanks.

Have a Happy Groundhog Day,

Ranger Will
