Naturally, the big news everywhere right now is the
tragedy of Hurricane Sandy in the northeast of the U.S.
Especially hard hit were New York City and much of New
Jersey.
Animal shelters were devastated, too, as well as some
of the petfood companies many of us may rely on for our
pets' needs. We were lucky here in Nebraska as our
regular monthly order was not disrupted! However,
many others were not so lucky. Here is how you can
help feed the animals:

many shelters up and down the East Coast that were
ravaged by this hurricane. They don't know of any
specific shelter that needs more help than another,

hard by the storm, putting local shelters in extreme
hardship. They are preparing an emergency shipment of pet
food and litter for immediate delivery to shelters in the
community — enough supplies to feed and nourish several
hundred dogs and cats while the shelters work to restore
their operations.
Over the next 30 days, for every order placed on Wag with

food to Best Friends Animal Society and its network of
affiliated animal shelters.

How to help animals:
Always remember to check with your local shelter
to see what they need. Your donation will go directly
to the animals, in sharp contrast to some of the large
national groups, whose donation income goes toward
large administrative salaries and other expenses, not
necessarily for animals. That said, there is one large
