The Judge will be Gareth Martin AWPF, CPAGB from Neath and the optional prescribed topic is Documentary.
The Photographic Society of America (PSA) defines documentary photography as images with informative content and emotional impact, reflecting the human presence in our world, where the journalistic (story-telling) value of the image receives priority over pictorial quality.

Monday 24 March members will be able to practice their lighting / posing skills photographing each other. Feel free to bring costumes and / or accessories and have a bit of fun.
Monday 31 March – We have Coni Thorne modelling for us wearing the Maleficent costume. So now is a good opportunity to watch the film and get some inspiration.
- The morning session 10am – 1pm is open to all members at a bargain £10. No booking needed.
- Depending upon numbers it may be possible to persuade Coni to do a follow-on session (1:15-3:30 ish) with a limited number of members (max 5) at £25 each. To book a place for the afternoon session, please contact Mike: mike_martin@blueyonder.co.uk
Here’s one Mike did earlier!

I appreciate that this is not a club or photographic topic, but I suspect a fair few members have a subscription version of Microsoft Office. Below is an extract from Martin Lewis' Money Saving Expert website:
Those with Microsoft 365's (formerly Office 365) 'Personal' and 'Family' plans will see prices rise by 42% and 31% respectively from their next billing date on or after 16 January 2025 (new subscribers also paid these increased prices from this date). The increase is automatic if your plan is set to auto-renew. To check this, log in to your Microsoft account, go to 'Subscriptions' and select 'Manage'. If you see an option to 'Cancel', this means auto-renewal IS on.
If you don't see an option to cancel, but instead see a link that says 'Turn on recurring billing', then auto-renewal is NOT on. You won't be charged the new prices unless you turn auto-renew on or restart your subscription.
Beat the price hikes by switching your plan to 'Classic'
This will revert your subscription to what it was before Copilot and Designer were added, but at the old price. So you'll still have access to Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint and Word, plus 1TB of cloud storage with a Personal plan or 6TB with a Family subscription. Microsoft says the option to switch to a Classic plan will be offered for the next year. To make the switch:
- Sign in to your Microsoft account.
- Go to 'Subscriptions' and select 'Manage'.
- Select 'Cancel subscription'. This will give you the option to choose a monthly or annual Classic Personal or Classic Family plan.
If your plan doesn't switch over automatically, it will do so on your next billing date. If you've already been charged the new price for Microsoft 365 and you downgrade your plan, you can request a partial refund by contacting Microsoft's support team.

PSA Mono PDI Competition - Round 2 |
More results from the PSA PDI Competition:
Mono
Much closer than the Nature category (see last week's newsletter), BPS lies in joint 4th with 137 points; one point below the two clubs in joint 2nd with the first-place club only 5 points ahead of us. All still to play for in the final round.
Congratulations to Barry Mead for our only awarded image.

Who's Nicked Mike's Prints |
When collecting prints left at the front after various competitions early in the new year, has anyone gathered up Mike Martin’s entry for the WCPF Members' Exhibition? These were left by Mike for Ralph to collect early in January, but have gone missing. Fortunately Mike had duplicates that can be used in the Exhibition, but if anyone has them, he’d appreciate their return. Thanks.
PS. There are still a number of mounted and un-mounted images at the front – please collect yours so we can tidy up.
