Psalm 33:4 For the word of the Lord is right, and all His work is done in truth.

THE PLAIN TRUTH

We live in an age of political correctness, which I suppose one can tolerate to some extent. However, such political correctness softens the truth of things in a way that is harmful.

What if God were politically correct? How seriously would we take Him? Would the law which reveals our natures in all their blackness and wickedness be the same? Would it move a person to repent? Consider the words of Ezekiel: "The soul that sins it shall die." Would it have the same effect if it were to read, "the soul that is righteously challenged shall be life challenged"? It changes everything, I may not be totally righteous but I'm pretty good, so I guess I'm saved. Or it would leave a glimmer of hope that we might be saved apart from Christ Jesus.

We need the truth, the hard cold facts as God has revealed them to us in His Word. We might not like it, but we need it, because it rejoices the heart and gives us songs to sing in praise to God our Savior. For in showing us our complete hopelessness in view of the law, it readies us for the voice of the Gospel -- in Christ Jesus there is no condemnation. What a joy and comfort it is to know that I can turn to God daily and find the truth.
