DI Group - Homework
DI Challenge – November 2018
The last Digital Imaging Group meeting was very well attended, one member even travelling 200 miles to be there for the evening. As usual many members brought wonderful images for all of us to get excited about especially when they were taken enduring the hardship of travelling in the cold in Iceland or camping in rugged landscape at the bottom of a volcano. Just before we ran out of time to view all the images brought for the evening Karena quietly presented her images and asked for advice on improving her image of a hairy Welsh emu (trust her to find it there!) which sparked off a discussion and set a challenge how best to cut it out of the background. So that’s a challenge to ALL the members to brush up their digital techniques and bring their best results at the next DI meeting on 12 November or send it to me for a prize – extra special chocolate biscuits. Details of the challenge and the image are on my dropbox link for download.
The other highlight of the evening was a tutorial on using Adobe Camera Raw. With the internet connection now available we were able to see the Adobe video tutorial and followed by Pete McCloskey expertly demonstrating in further detail, using our new Adobe Photoshop CC, how useful it is to capture in raw format and how to get the best out of raw image. In keeping with the aims of the DI group I am hoping to arrange technical talk on certain features of Lightroom next month.

Trumpet Blowers' Corner
Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.

Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.

Items For Sale
I have received the following from Gerry Gill:
"If there is anyone at the club, maybe someone starting to do own printing, in need of a “Photo paper Cutter” contact me gerry-gill@hotmail.co.uk
Works fine. No charge."

Please note, we can only carry adverts for items to sell if those items actually belong to the member advertising them.

If you have something photographic that you want to sell, let me have the details and I will circulate them to a captive audience of photographers through the Newsletter - send to the usual address.

Studio Bookings
Would all members please note: before you plan your shoot and book your model, you should check whether the studio/clubroom will be free. Bookings can (and must) be made by contacting Mike Bigger at bookings@bristolphoto.org.uk.
Log in details to the Members' Area are at the end of this newsletter.
