ISS expands contract with Vattenfall

ISS Sweden has won Vattenfall's tender to provide services for the nuclear power plants in Forsmark and Ringhals and SKB's facilities in Forsmark and Oskarshamn. A year ago, when Vattenfall – one of Europe's largest generators of electricity and largest producer of heat – began the procurement process it was the first time the process was covering all the nuclear facilities in Sweden; the nuclear power plants in Forsmark and Ringhals, and SKB's (Swedish Nuclear Waste Management) activities in Forsmark and Oskarshamn. The contract focus was on cost effectiveness, security of supply while maintaining quality. As ISS has extensive experience as a service supplier for the Swedish nuclear industry, ISS was able to meet Vattenfall’s requirements. The services that ISS will deliver to Vattenfall will largely focus on various end-user needs.

ISS will apply its Integrated Facility Services (IFS) delivery model, where the different services are coordinated and mainly delivered by own staff, this way ISS is assuming full responsibility for the delivery. Together with ISS’ solid expertise and knowledge of the strict requirements in the nuclear industry, this creates opportunities to exploit synergies between different services, thus optimizing the operations.

Lars Nygaard , Country Manager of ISS Sweden, said: We are very proud that Vattenfall shows us this trust and chooses our service concept IFS. Vattenfall is a very important customer with a business setting very high demands for their outsourcing partner in terms of the control, transparency, efficiency and innovation. The partnership means that ISS can help Vattenfall with IFS, allowing Vattenfall to focus on strategic planning and development of their support services.

The new contract with Vattenfall includes maintenance, logistics, office and nuclear technical services (fuel transport, sanitation and protection materials), and cleaning at the nuclear power plants in Forsmark and Ringhals and SKB's facilities in Forsmark and Oskarshamn. ISS already runs the restaurant and the hotel at Forsmark. The new contract will commence 1 January 2014 and will, when in full operation, employ about 200 people. ISS is already a service provider to the nuclear power plants in Forsmark, Barsebäck and Oskarshamn.
