Luke 17:5 The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!"

FAITH LIKE A MILK MUSTACHE

One of the things that makes little children so lovable is that they just don't seem to care what others think. They are not troubled that their actions don't always conform to accepted standards of dignity. For example, they couldn't care less if their clothes match or if they are in style. If their pajamas are on both inside out and backwards it concerns them not at all. If they walk around all day with their shoes on the wrong feet, what's the big deal? They proudly wear their milk mustaches in public, don't care if a tuft of their hair happens to be standing straight up in the air, and have no shame in revealing to anyone who will listen every embarrassing things that goes in their house.

Oh, if only our faith was like that! Oh, for a faith that doesn't worry if it stands out like a milk mustache. Oh, for a faith that doesn't care what others think when they refuse to pattern their lives according to the world's standards. What should we care about?

Perhaps you and I need to make some long overdue changes in our lives. But how is it possible to be so unabashedly child-like in our faith?

There is only place to begin: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Amazing! Absolutely amazing, the love required to sacrifice one's only son for a world of sinners who live the way we live! Incredible that God would literally damn His Son for a sinner like me. Mind-boggling that even now, after all the filth and garbage that we've allowed into our lives, God still sees us clean and holy and pure for the sake of His Son. Neither time or eternity can ever erase those wonderful words that say: "The blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin." Nothing can change God's promise that says: "Whoever believes and is baptized shall be saved!"
