Haftarah Plethora
This week the boys step up to read and discuss the entire Book of Ovadia, all one chapter and 21 verses of it. Larry offers a theory about Ovadia and the polemical nature of the book while Rick makes fun of Larry’s pronunciation of haftarah/haftorah/haftoira (he also chants the haftarah).

The Mishnah Study Group will be gathering to learn on December 5th with Howard Fredman.

Library Minyan Talk: Carl Laemmle and the Jews of Baden-Wurttemberg
On December 29 at 7:00 pm, Deborah Blum will speak about: “Carl Laemmle and the Jews of Baden-Wurttemberg.” Sharing the findings of her research for the documentary she and Warren Blum are producing, she will speak about how Carl Laemmle, her grandfather’s cousin and founder of Universal Studios — born in Laupheim, Baden-Wurttemberg — rescued hundreds of Jews from the area in the late 1930s.
