I just got back from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. I was up there visiting my sister and her wonderful family. It was so good to see all of them. Thanks to Sue, Steve, Jamie, Jazz and Indy for the warm hospitality.
Two days later Los Manatees was performing up in Jim Thorpe, PA. We played at a spot called Flagstaf www.flagstafpa.com which sits on a mountaintop overlooking a big valley. As I stood on the stage of this historic ballroom (Frank Sinatra and Tommy Dorsey performed on this same stage) I could look out the window and see the lights from the town below. Opening for us at this annual affair was the Deb Callahan Blues Band who did a great job. Their sax man Walter sat in with us for a couple of songs during our set. I hope we come back next year.
Manatee Fun Fact: Did you know that the Fitzwater Station in Mont Clare, PA, has a drink named after Los Manatees? It's true!
Coming up on the first Friday of August, Los Manatees will perform at Crazy Carl's with the big band (La Banda Grande) w/ The Rhino Horns. Opening up for us will be the Long Rider Blues Band www.longriderblues.com
Right after her afternoon outdoor show this Sunday, July 26 from 1:00-5:00 with Los Manatees at The Brick Tavern in Quakertown, PA, vocalist Kathleen Weber will be appearing with The Angel Band on The Gene Shay Show at 8:00pm on WXPN 88.5 FM.
