Ranger Report June 2, 2006

"What love is to man, music is to the arts and to mankind. Music is love itself, - it is the purest, most ethereal language of passion, showing in a thousand ways all possible changes of color and feeling; and though true in only a single instance, it yet can be understood by thousands of men & who all feel differently."

-C.M. Von Weber

Dear Friends,

It's the ol' Ranger here with some new info.

First of all, Los Manatees will NOT be playing at The Funhouse in Bethlehem, PA, this Saturday, June 3. Due to scheduling restraints we had to cancel. Earlier on the same evening we will be playing The Who Hill Splintered Sunlight Family Cookout www.whohill.net There are four other acts on the bill with us and there was no way we could get out and up to The Funhouse on time. Sorry for any inconvenience.

The gates open for this annual "Family Cookout" at 12 noon and the first band (The VW Project) starts at around 2:00pm. They will be followed by "The Manatawny Creek Ramblers" (bluegrass) at around 4:00ish. After them it is Ras Michael's reggae band "Axum" appearing at around 6:00. Los Manatees should be going on at around 7:30. Just in time for a sunset performance. Splintered Sunlight will headline at around 10:00pm. Camping and food are both available. Prizes for best costumes. See you there.

The following afternoon, Sunday June 4, in Mont Clare,PA, we will play our first Fitzwater Station show of the summer. This is an all-ages acoustic outdoor show from 4 to 8. Good vibes mon.

Five days later Los Manatees are playing at another all-ages outdoor show. This time in from 7 to 10pm on Ridge Pike in Eagleville, PA at the Lower Providence Volunteer Fire Company Fireman's Fair. www.lpfire.com Bring the whole family, it's an early show.

Recording and mixing continues through the spring. The long-awaited Los Manatees studio album "Go Like This" has three completed tracks in the can. The mysterious Will Hodgson solo project, "Skyland", will probably be finished around the same time as the Los Manatees album. This happened before ten years ago in 1996 when we released the double-disc live set entitled "Live Medicine" and my first solo CD, "Southpaw", on the same day. Recently the "Skyland" album received some stunning overdub work by Karl Frick on organ and Joe "Jozo" Rizzo on guitar. Inna overdub style.

OK, I got to be going. I'm on my way. I'll be seeing you. There are songs to write, songs to practice, songs to play and songs to record. And when we get to end we're gonna start all over again.

Stage Stuck,
Ranger Will
