Psalm 22:28 For dominion belongs to the LORD and he rules over the nations.

THE KING AND RULER ETERNAL

"For Thine is the kingdom and the power" are part of the closing words of the Lord's prayer and here in this verse of Psalm 22 we find the same thought. We are also taken to the ascension into heaven of our Lord Jesus and His sitting down at the right hand of the Father. We might think also of the words from Revelation: King of kings and Lord of lords. All these thoughts are rolled up here into these awe-inspiring words.

All this demonstrates that it is not man nor is it the devil who rules and governs the world in which we live, but our Lord Jesus Christ alone who stands as King and Ruler over all the nations.

One thing after another rises and falls like the waves and tides of the sea, to which and of which the Lord says, "This far you may come, but no farther, and here your proud waves must stop!" (Job 38:11). Time and again the Lord says to the nations and those who would rule it, "Here you must stop." It is He who controls all things in heaven and on earth even as He says, "All power is given unto Me in heaven and on earth."

His kingdom and His rule transcends the earthly, for His kingdom is not of this world. "For the kingdom of God is not food and drink but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit" (Romans 14:17).

That Kingdom is eternal and it is of that kingdom we are members by faith. We are His subjects to show forth His praises while here on earth. For we also know that everything which takes place here on earth takes place by the will of our Lord Jesus for our spiritual good since everything works together for the good of those who love Him.

We by faith have a peace that the world will never know, the peace of the righteousness of Jesus who is King and Lord and Ruler of all.
