I am pleased to announce that ADSL is now available to all offshore residents of Pittwater in the Scotland Island/Elvina Bay/ Lovett Bay/ Morning Bay area It has been a long time coming and has been part of a campaign (largely organised by me!) to allow access via REAL broadband to all of the offshore communities. I thank all the good people at team telstra for putting up with my frequent phone calls and emails. ADSL is available through your own Internet Service Provider (ISP). This could be Bigpond or almost any other provider. It is simply a matter of who you are comfortable with and should take into account things such as price, service and your personal requirements. To access ADSL, contact your own ISP, or email me for advice. To contact Telstra Northern Districts ADSL support, phone Nikki on 8255-4644 or email her at nicola.henricus@team.telstra.com OR phone Phoenix on 8255-4672. You should only need to do this if your own ISP tells you that it is not available - believe me - it is! Many local residents have already connected to ADSL. This notice is to advise that all remaining telephone subscribers with a fixed line can now join. If you have an ISDN connection to the net, you should seriously consider changing for reasons of price and speed. One final comment.... ADSL2 is coming soon to Australia. This will enable substantially higher speeds and you should by a modem that is ADSL2 compatible if at all possible. Editor Paul
