Next Wednesday we have Print Competition Round 3, which is being judged by Simon Caplan LRPS.

"Only Mono" Print Competition |
Mike Martin has entered BPS into the above competition. Now in its fourth year, this is the only print competition in the UK dedicated solely to monochrome prints. This year sees 49 clubs do battle to take the trophy.
We need 4 mono prints, each from a different photographer. We’ve got a bit of time as the entries don’t have to be in until April..... BUT start thinking now. If you’re interested, in the first instance eMail mike_martin@blueyonder.co.uk with a digital copy of your best mono image, so he can start compiling a library of potential images for selection – thanks.

Projected Image Competition Round 4 |
Advanced warning - the closing date for the final round of the Projected Image Competition is 26 February. The prescribed category for the Advanced section will be " Interiors". The judge for this round will be Peter Crane ARPS, his website can be found at this address: www.petercrane.co.uk

The WCPF Members Exhibition attracts entries from many of the clubs in the Federation. Last year, 55 clubs had members who had at least one image accepted. Dorchester who are usually our main rivals in DPIC and the Inter Club Print competition had 23 members with acceptances. BPS on the other hand had only 6 members who had an image accepted. Over 40 BPS members entered this year's Salon (that was selected over the weekend), so why don’t you enter the Members Exhibition as well?
The Members Exhibition is not a trivial affair, last year there were 1150 print and 1750 digital entries, and you can get even get shiny medals and/or certificates to show off with.
I think we should look to challenge Dorchester who are always the dominant club in the exhibition, but that is down to you BPS Members.
There is a box to collect prints entries at the club. You have until 7th March to get your entry in. Don’t worry I can bring another box for prints once the current one if full 😊

Royal Photographic Society’s International Photography Exhibition, the world’s longest running photography exhibition, is being held at RPS House at Paintworks, Brislington. The exhibition is on until 27 March - free entry. Full details here.
LACOCK Abbey - There is an exhibition of photographs at Lacock Abbey: 'Adornments' by Carla van de Puttelaar. This exhibition is one which exhibits photographs that are inspired by the paintings by the Dutch Old Masters and (as reported by several BPS members who have already seen it) is well worth a visit.

Wildlife Photographer of the Year |
Wildlife Photographer of the Year – the world-renowned exhibition from the Natural History Museum – is back at M-Shed until 4 May with 100 new images. Now in its 55th year, Wildlife Photographer of the Year presents the most arresting and spectacular photography of our natural world. Encounter the beauty and fragility of wildlife, see fascinating animal behaviour and get to know extraordinary species. You’ll discover the surprising – and often challenging – stories behind the images during a time of environmental crisis.
Wildlife Photographer of the Year is the most prestigious photography event of its kind showcasing the world’s most astonishing sights for more than 50 years. Launching in 1965 and attracting 361 entries, today the competition receives 48,000 entries from 100 countries.
It's worth reading the following from John Hudson:
I, like many, have been to this exhibition every year for I know not how long. I have been jaded to the point of thinking of it as a duty rather than a pleasure - especially in recent years when the "arty"-ness of the print was given more credit than its technical merit or content.
This year is different, back to good standards and some great images. I was pleasantly surprised and urge people to go along.

Mike Martin had 11 acceptances in the 4th Bangladesh International Salon including one HM in each of the prints and PDIs and a Gold in the Open Colour Prints - well done!
Salon acceptances: BPS photographers are now achieving large numbers of salon acceptances and constraints on time and space mean we can't include them all. So please only advise of awards or other milestones.
Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
