Island Students help out..
Last week on a rainy morning we were on the school run from Bells to Tennis wharf with everyone very damp but trying to be up-beat,bright and breezy…looking out for sinking boats when we came around the corner and to our delight we saw a sea of blue and white Newport school uniforms on the tinny tie-up part of tennis wharf. We rang out the horn to the children, wondering why they were on the old section, not on the new wharf ready to hop onboard, when we realized that a group of kids were watching the year 6 kids bailing out some tinnies. This was their idea, there didn’t appear to be any parents on duty. Good one kids. Well done and a great way to start off the school year too, plus great to be seen by the younger ones. Made us feel very pleased, warm and fuzzy.

Vale Neil Sudbury
There was sad news this week when we learned of the death of former Canadian-born Islander Neil Sudbury.  Older residents will remember Neil and his wife Jill built and sailed an unusual convertered lifeboat during his stay with us.  The pair who had three children later separated.
Neil died in a tragic accident in the Blue Mountains last Monday night when his car ran off the road.
