Productivity On Wheels...

A report published by Mercola.com found that one-half of all working Americans admit to having back pain symptoms each year. Behind upper-respiratory infections, it is the second most common reason for visits to the doctor’s office.

Your office chair could be the culprit for some of these back issues as well as cutting into your productivity.

While at your desk, you should be able to move comfortably to find what you need and file paperwork quickly. Having a chair on wheels with a sturdy mat beneath, helps you move more freely around your work area.

A common mistake I find when working in offices is employees don’t have a sturdy enough mat under their chair when it rests on carpet. Often times, the mat is cracked, which indicates the mat is not a good support. A sturdy chair mat does not roll or bend easily when picked up.

Mats come in all different shapes and sizes. Choose a mat that lets you roll comfortably while offering you the support you need.

The right chair mat and properly fitted rolling chair will lessen the risks of back injury and allow you to be more productive by bringing necessary items within reach easily.

Do Just One Thing...

Instead of thinking that you have to spend hours organizing, see if there are small organizing tasks you can do throughout the day.

For example:

The next time you get gas, take a moment to clean out all the trash from your car and collect items on the passenger seat that belong in your home.

When you reach for something in a kitchen drawer, look through the drawer for those items you no longer use and put them in your donate bin.

If you’re the passenger on a car ride, take time to delete pictures from your phone that are no longer needed.

Watching for these organizing opportunities will help get big tasks done in small amounts of time.

One More Thing...

October 16th is Boss’s Day.

Happy Boss’s Day to those of you who nurture, inspire and mentor the personnel who support your work throughout the day.

Enjoy your day and then it’s time to get busy. As a leader, it’s important for you to set a good example for the rest of the office. Getting your office organized is a great start.

Enjoy this fall weather,
