The Rhode Island Wild Plant Society, Inc., is a nonprofit conservation organization dedicated to the preservation and protection of Rhode Island’s native plants and their habitats.
RIWPS Activities Include:
- Offer educational workshops and programs both in the classroom and in the field on native plants’ characteristics and their aesthetic and ecological value
- Cultivate and make native plants available at our plant sales [Over 2,500 native plants were added to the landscape in 2015]
- Offer walks in a variety of natural settings to enjoy, observe, and learn about native plants and invasives that challenge them
- Publish WildfloraRI, a newsletter for members, which includes feature articles, cultivation notes, book reviews, and self-guided walking tours
- Design and create an award-winning annual educational exhibit at the Rhode Island Spring Flower and Garden Show
- Organize a biennial Native Plant Symposium on best stewardship practices
- Partner with organizations to preserve and protect native plants
