Revelation 5:11-12 Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels ... In a loud voice they sang: "Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!"

GREEN: THE COLOR FOR GROWTH IN GOD'S GRACE

Green is the color for growth. When I look outside my window it is easy to tell if my tomato plants are growing or not just by their color. If they are green they are in good shape. If they are brown, they are dying. We think of things that are green as being alive.

It is important for us all to grow spiritually. The older we get the more we learn about God's word, the stronger our trust in Jesus, the more mature we become in our Christian living. We desire to be "green" Christians who are constantly growing in knowledge and appreciation of the work of the Triune God, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Apostle John was living in exile on the island of Patmos when God sent him a series of special dreams that were to help Him grow in His faith. They were visions that showed Jesus as the victor over sin, death, the devil, and all evil. In one vision Christ was pictured as a Lamb sitting on a throne and all around the Lamb are all sort of creatures were praising Him. Some are bowing down, others are singing, "Worthy is the Lamb to receive honor." The dream was to help John remember how Jesus had died and risen again and now reigned forever and ever in heaven.

This vision would help John to grow in His confidence and trust in Jesus. It would help Him to see that Christ really was victorious, had surely forgiven His sins, and would come again to raise Him from the dead to eternal life.

May we also grow stronger spiritually when we think of Christ victorious for us and when we worship Him like the angels do.
