Maryland Boating Safety
Education Act

Maryland’s Boating Safety Education Act requires that any person born on or after July 1, 1972, who operates a registered or documented pleasure vessel on Maryland waters be in possession of a Certificate of Boating Safety Education. The Certificate must be shown, on request, to any Maryland Natural Resources Police Officer or other law enforcement officer.
The Certificate is obtained by passing a Department of Natural Resources–approved boating safety course or by passing an equivalency examination. The Certificate is valid for life.
The Natural Resources Police offer the Boat Maryland Course through the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and local jurisdictions. In addition, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, the U.S. Power Squadrons, and private companies offer other approved courses. An equivalency exam is given statewide to those who wish to take the exam in lieu of a course.  www.MoreInfo.com

Meet Our Staff...

Janet "Damn it, I love you" Singh!
BMC HarborView

Janet was hired with BMC in February of 2010, in the middle of taking over the Harborview operations.  She came to us after working over 10 years as a Medical Billing Specialist in the health care field.  She answers our questions below:

Q:  What made you leave medical billing?
A:  I was looking for a change and heard great things about the company.

Q:  What was your first job?
A:  As a waitress for a neighborhood Chinese Restaurant called "Luwah".  It was in New Jersey.

Q:  What do you do when you're not helping boaters at HarborView?
A:  I  take care of my daughter.  Read.  Travel.  The last book I read was the Twilight series.  I loved it, but I liked the movie better.

Q:  What kind of travel do you do?
A:  I've been around!  I've been to Canada, the islands, Key West.  I was on a cruise ship in the middle of hurricane Rita.  I love Jamaica, I've been five times!   (I have a friend that lives there and shows me the REAL Jamaica).  My LONGEST trip ever was to India.  There are parts of India that are beautiful, I loved the Taj Mahal and the Golden Temple, and I really loved the food that they cook outside.

Q:  What's your guilty pleasure?
A:  Watching the Disney Channel every night with my daughter! (giggles...)
