ELIZABETH McKENZIE
The Portable Veblen (in conversation with Scott Hutchins, author of A Working Theory of Love)
Thursday, February 18 at 7 PM
Meet New Yorker contributor and author Elizabeth McKenzie, whose offbeat novel, MacGregor Tells the World, was a Chicago Tribune, San Francisco Chronicle, and Library Journal Best Book of the Year. She will discuss her new novel, The Portable Veblen, the story of a couple in Palo Alto whose engagement is in danger of collapse. The charming, whimsical Veblen (named after the economist Thorstein Veblen) and her brilliant fiance Paul weather everything, including their dysfunctional families and a friendship with a charismatic squirrel.
