Mark 14:62 "I am," said Jesus. "And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven."

KING OF KINGS

"Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?" The high priest was not really asking for information. He already knew about Jesus’ claims. He and the other leaders had already decided that Jesus must die, but they needed a reasonable excuse for enacting their judgment.

And Jesus, silent while all the false testimony was hurled at him, answered this question: "I am." It was the answer the High Priest was expecting, so he was ready to tear his robes, but then Jesus added a word of warning. "You will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One ..."

Yes, He was the Messiah. He was also the right hand man of the Mighty One. Momentarily it appeared that they were sitting in the power position, but then why did they feel the need to lie and deceive? Even in the hour of their triumph, the enemies of God know their position is indefensible.

And so also would our position be indefensible because of our sinful human nature -- if He were not also the Son of the Blessed One who sent the Son of Man to be the representative of the human race. He came, kind and good -- as we should be -- and stretched out His healing hand to diseased humanity.

Now the answer to our hymn-prayer is "I will!"

Come not in terror, as the King of kings,
But kind and good, with healing in Thy wings;
Tears for all woes, a heart for every plea.
Come, Friend of sinners, thus abide with me.
