ClassicarGarage Newsletter 62 - Goodwood Revival Meeting 2011

Dear classic car enthusiast,

From 16 until 18 September we visited the Goodwood Revival Meeting on the fantastic
Goodwood circuit near Chichester, Great Britain. The event was again unforgettable and uncomparable with any other event worldwide. With just over 138.000 visitors the weekend was fully sold out. Most of the visitors were dressed in the style of the 1940'ies, 50'ies and 60'ies and everything on the circuit grounds was breathing the classy style of days long gone.
The races and the participating classic sports and racing cars were magnificent. The mix of already known and new participants and cars was perfect. All races saw thrilling battles in the front and middle of the field, drivers pushing the limits to finish as high as possible. The 50 year anniversary of the Jaguar E-type was celebrated with the beautiful Fordwater Trophy race. In this race thirty E-types of different models competed hard drifting through the curves on the edge of grip and stepping out on the green stuff. In the air the spectacle was also stunning. As ever the thundering air-displays of Supermarine Spitfires and the enormous Boeing B-17
Flying Fortress were fascinating.
With this newsletter we try to share the unique Goodwood Revival racing feeling with you.
We present six ClassicarGarage exclusive full HD (1080p) race video's and a photo reportage of the sports/racing cars in the paddock. Via Facebook you can also view a photo reportage of the Brooklands Museum and Circuit we visited on our way home.

P.S. Since Friday September 23 we tested & photographed at nearly all our garages.
Shortly you may expect around 25 new arrived classic automobiles in our sales collection

Sincerely,
Marc Vorgers.

The Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy Celebration (RAC TT) is the most popular race of the Goodwood Revival weekend. Goodwood Revival Paddock photo's

On Friday September 16 we admired and photographed the racingcars in the Goodwood Paddock. This 'Walhalla' can only be visited with a Goodwood Road Racing Club (GRRC) membership badge or with press accreditation. We think that is a shame but we can understand that the mechanics and drivers have to work and prepare for the races in piece. Hereby we present 91 photo's to be viewed separately or in a slide show!

Brooklands Museum & Circuit

On our way back home to the Netherlands we visited the Brooklands Museum and Circuit. For racing and speed enthusiasts  these are holy grounds! In the year 1907 the first banked circuit with concrete track was opened at Brooklands. In the prewar years many land speed record was set and broken here. The lap record is in hands of John Cobb who set the record at 143.44 mph in 1935 with his Napier-Railton. The record can not be broken because the circuit is largely dismantled. We think it is a super human accomplishment driving this fast on such a bumpy track! On the photo you see the about 1800 kg. heavy Napier-Railton being launched on a bump during
the record attempt! The very impressive Napier-Railton can be admired in the museum.
