John 14:1 "Let not your hearts be troubled, You believe in God, believe also in Me ..."

JESUS IS PREPARING A PLACE IN HEAVEN FOR YOU

Jesus had reached the height of His popularity after raising Lazarus from the dead, and during the previous week had parried all the verbal attacks of His enemies. But shortly after sharing the Passover meal with His disciples and instituting the Lord’s Supper, Jesus tells them: "Let not your hearts be troubled," (John 14:1). It was not so much that their hearts were troubled at that moment, but they would be. Over the next days their hearts would be greatly troubled and discouraged. Even after the resurrection of Jesus and even after Pentecost their hearts would grow heavy because they faced great hardship.

Every believer of Christ will run into times of a troubled heart. That is a feeling that crops up in modern-day disciples too. We feel out of place in this world, and we are. While we are living here on this earth we are strangers and pilgrims in a foreign land. We might feel orphaned and abandoned by our Savior when the going gets rough.

If we attempt to cure our troubled heart by throwing ourselves into worldly satisfaction that will be a very hollow sort of elation, and will not last long at all. Those who derive comfort and consolation from this life will not be satisfied.

The cure for a troubled heart is to know that Jesus is preparing a place in heaven for you since He has made you a child of God. He directs our gaze to the future, permanent home that we have in heaven. He says, "You believe in God believe also in Me" (John 14:1). This connection emphasizes the fact that you are different. You have been connected to your Lord by faith. This trust in God leads you to realize that you have a great future. The Lord directs you to look past the calender and earthly goals and aspirations to your true home in heaven.
