Hello Firstname

Wednesday 7 August

Next week we have a change to the published programme. BPS member, Ralph Snook ARPS DPAGB EFIAP/b has agreed, at short notice, to step in for Brian Swinyard who has to go into hospital for some long awaited surgery. Ralph will be presenting his talk entitled Wildlife Snaps From My Travels, this will be "exactly what it says on the tin", nature images from Ralph's travels taken over the last few years, together with a few anecdotes.
To see more about Ralph, why not visit his website at rsnatureimages.co.uk

Vote For Steve!
Following my plea for members to cast a vote for Steve Field in the 2019 EISA Maestro competition, more than 50 members followed the link to the voting page - so a big thank you to all who took the troublle to voteFor those of you still pondering whether to vote or not, there is still time, just follow this link VOTE FOR STEVE  and place your vote. A warning, the page you are taken to may be a bit slow to appear, so please be patient.

Annual BPS Evening Outing
Last Wednesday saw a large contingent of BPS members desecnd on Kings Weston House for an evening photographing the house and its grounds (without the intrusion of the general public). I think all who attended had a good time, as we were blessed with fine weather and a wonderful sunset over the windmills of Avonmouth!

Below are a couple of images showing just how energetic and athletic some of our members can be in pursuit of a good picture:

Printer Repairs
In a previous issue I printed a plea from Graham Baines following the apparent death of his two printers. Below is a response from Graham which might be a help to other members who's printers suffer the same fate!

A couple of members responded, however they were unable to offer me any advice. Hence I have had to try firms that I have come across on the internet.

The first firm that I contacted was Alexander Haig IT Services in Bishopston but they totally ignored two e-mails, a discouraging start.
Fortunately the next firm I tried were really helpful. I believe UKOS are a national firm but they have a centre in Bristol. They sent an engineer called Colin the very next day and he revived the Brother laser printer in little more than 20 minutes. Then, even though the firm indicate clearly on their website that they do not repair inkjet printers, he spent over an hour on my Epson printer and brought that back to life as well. The total charge was just under £130.

Photography Course
There are still spaces left on the annual photography course, could you please spread the word about the course, both by word of mouth and by social media. Below is a picture advertising the course which you might like to download by clicking on the picture and include in your Facebook (other social media sites are available) page. Alternatively you could download and print the poster and display it in places local to you. It's worth mentioning that the course fee also includes a year's membership of the Society.

Please remember, that the low cost of your BPS subscription can only remain that way for as long as we continue to get a good attendance (and therefore income) on the course. We would ask, therefore, that as many members as possible help to publicise the course.

Contrary to popular belief, I do not possess psychic powers and need you to tell me if you've had successes. If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.
