Exodus 35:4-5 Moses said to the whole Israelite community, "This is what the LORD has commanded: 'From what you have, take an offering for the LORD. Everyone who is willing is to bring to the LORD an offering . . .'"
TIME, TALENTS, AND TREASURES -- FOR GOD'S GLORY
Sometimes God equips His workers before He calls them into service. Sometimes God calls His workers and then equips them for service. But either way the same truth comes out: God is the one who gives time, talents and treasures to us. And He gives them to us that we might use some for ourselves, pass some on to others, and show give Him the glory when we do either.
When God's worship tent was made (Genesis 35-40), God's people voluntarily brought so many donations for the making of the Tabernacle, that the artisans had to ask them to stop. And while this is remarkable, it isn't the most remarkable thing in this section of God's Word.
The most remarkable thing about this account is that God only requested offerings from those who were willing to give. God had freely and generously given to all, but He only wanted the offerings that came from a willing and thankful heart. God cares about what is in our hearts as we come before Him, not the amount that is in our hands.
Without faith in the Savior, it is impossible to please God even with a huge offering. But the smallest thank offering from one who trusts in God's Son has great value in the Father's eyes.
In what way has God equipped you to serve Him? What is your heart willing to give back to Him?
