Psalm 105:1a Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name.

GIVE THANKS TO THE LORD ... AND CALL UPON HIS NAME

It is "Thanksgiving Week." We will be urged this week by many to be thankful, and we should give thanks to our Creator, Redeemer and Sanctifier.

We should express our thanksgiving to the LORD for the physical/material blessings we enjoy.
We should also express our thanksgiving to the LORD for the spiritual/eternal blessings we have been both given and promised.

We are also urged to call upon His name. No doubt when we read these words we think of prayer. We should indeed call upon the name of the LORD in prayer, not only in times of trouble but also in peace and prosperity. When we live off the fat of the land we tend to become fat and lazy, even in spiritual matters. We should pray diligently that God grant us grace that we do not trust in the things we have been given rather than the One who gives these things, our Creator. We are rich, materially and spiritually, and we dare not forget from whom our blessings flow.

This calling upon His name also involves telling others what our God has done. Let our thanksgiving also include bearing witness to the source of all our material blessings, the one true triune God. God grant us His grace that we use our mouths to given thanks individually and also together offer up praise and thanksgiving resounding to His glory.
