With less than a month to go before Ireland goes to the polls for the European Parliament elections, members of the public and community and voluntary groups are invited to attend an election hustings on Wednesday 14 May at Croke Park Conference Centre. Memebers of the public and representatives from community and voluntary organisations will also have an opportunity to air their views.
The outcome of the meeting (which is being organised by The Wheel, a national network of 950 community and voluntary organisations, supported by the European Parliament) will be published and presented to the political parties and the candidates ahead of the 2014 European Parliament elections.
Speaking ahead of the event, Ivan Cooper, Director of Advocacy at The Wheel said: “Brussels may be a long way from Dublin, but decisions taken by the European Parliament have a direct impact on local communities. This meeting is a unique opportunity for individuals and local groups to help shape the priorities of the European Parliament for the next five years,” said Mr Cooper.
