Luke 2:18-20 And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.
HEARTS THAT HAVE SEEN GOD'S LOVE
Some may scoff at these lowly shepherds. They weren't kings, rulers, diplomats or trained speakers. They were simple "cowboys" if you will. They took care of animals. Ask yourself: Were these men worthy to announce the birth of Jesus?
No.
But when God told them that the promised Savior had been born, their hearts would not let their mouths be silent. They spread the news around, and people were amazed by the message, not by the skill of the messengers.
Oh, may we keep and ponder in our mind
God's wondrous love in saving lost mankind!
Trace we the Babe, who hath retrieved our loss,
From His poor manger to His bitter cross
Tread in His steps, assisted by His grace
Till man's first heavenly state again takes place.
(The Lutheran Hymnal, 84:5)
