Congratulations MACRO Student Honorarium winners!
I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our two student award winners for this year. Both students study with Profressor Robert Hodson at Hope College in Holland, Michigan.
Tom Owens is this year's Robert Fountain Memorial Honorarium winner. Tom is an outstanding student who is interested in composition and production. He is an experimenter who composes, plays, and records his own works. He has already established his own independent record label and plans to spend a semester studying in New York next spring trhough the New York Arts Program.
Steve Rodriguez is this year's winner of the Bruce Benward Theory/Composition Honorarium. Steve is a gifted scholar interested in all aspects of music, but would like to further his studies by exploring the nexus of theory, ethnomusicology and sacred music. This summer Professor Hodson and Steve will collaborate on a Faculty/Student Research Project in which they will explore the music of Bill Evans. Their work together will result in a co-authored research paper and presentation.

Musician's workshop
Don't forget to make plans to attend our Musician's workshop on June 16-17! We still have room for more poster session ideas on the workshop, so please don't hesitate to contact me if you have something you would like to share with the rest of the group. Don't forget to apply for our travel funds. We provide up to $500 of support for members who present either a regular or poster session on the workshop, and up to $250 of support for members who attend the workshop. The $250 level of support is awarded on a first come first served basis, so register soon!
