It’s the Chinese New Year of the Rooster, so we'd like to wish you all …
新年好
(that's ‘New Year Goodness!’)

Although summer seems a long way off, here at H&H HQ, we have already noticed that the evenings are growing lighter, with a promise of better things to come. In the meantime, losing yourself in a good book helps while away dark, wintry evenings, and we’ve certainly got lots of those lined up for your delectation, as well as more great reading, features and live interviews in our monthly issues of Animal Magic

Dive in and take a look at this month’s cracker!

Please contact me at jude@veloce.co.uk if you’ve any comments or points you’d like to make: I’d love to hear from you!

New year … New books!

It's a brand-new year, and we have some great new books and digital editions heading your way. In fact, whilst we were slowly emerging from our January hibernation, we released two fantastic books to get the year off to a cracking start … let’s take a look:

Indre and Helen

Bonds
Capturing the special relationship that dogs share with their people

Bonds is an elegant photographic essay on the bonds that exist between dogs and their people. Photographer Indre Cukuraite and creative director Helen Pais, created this quirky, humorous, unique book to capture the human-dog relationship from the dog’s point of view.

Forty-two specially commissioned images showcase the incomparable dynamics of each bond. Each image is accompanied by a didactic doggy thought … a perspicacious nugget of information that encapsulates the dogs’ understanding of their person.

Bonds is a brilliant little book, and a feast for the eyes … it's available now at Hubble & Hattie.

Mike&Scrabble
A guide to training your new human

Our second January release will be from a pair familiar to all Animal Magic subscribers – Mike&Scrabble – A guide to training your new human. There are many wise, practical, and academic books that explore the relationship between pets and their owners; Mike&Scrabble is not one of them.

This ‘picture book for adults’ is a funny, sometimes sad, but always thought-provoking book that is ideal for those who prefer their books ‘word-light.’ Mike&Scrabble have amassed a big following on social media, and we’ll be seeing more visual wisdom from Mike&Scrabble in the very near future … watch this space!

As Mike says:

‘This is a book that dogs will buy, but as they have trouble using an iPad and don't keep money on them, it may well be attractive to their Human pets.’

I, speaking as a fellow Human pet, most certainly agree!

You can pickup a copy of Mike&Scrabble here.

Busy busy busy …

Dogs Today

Mike and Scrabble have been very busy over the last few months, grabbing peoples' attention everywhere. Dogs Today caught up with Mike&Scrabble to hear the story behind the book. You can read the article here … or you purchase the magazine, and enter the competition to WIN a copy of the book … what are you waiting for?

Mike&Scrabble's latest video

In the meantime, here's the latest video of Mike (and Scrabble, of course), telling us all about how the book came about, how his training his going with Scrabble as teacher, and other important stuff … click the picture below to view the video.

I like to mooOOoove it moOove it …
These bovines are really 'cow'nting (ooh) their blessings…

You may have seen this mooovie (sorry … can't help it) of George Saunders' cows enjoying a touch of back scratching… but if not, we guarantee you won't be able to stop watching it!

There are many, many hypnotic videos on YouTube, but this one is just so … well … satisfying. So satisfying that we can't help but share it.
