Pittwater Council has issued information regarding three proposed Options for additional parking infrastructure at McCarrs Creek Road, Church Point. Council has organised independent assessment of Option 3, the new revised Church Point Friends proposal. This is currently being undertaken to provide confirmation of proposed car spaces, costings and other aspects of the plan. CHURCH POINT COMMUNITY FORUM This Sunday, October 20 at 10.30 a.m. in the Community Hall, Catherine Park for residents wishing to view and discuss the proposed Options. Stay for a chat and a sausage/veg sizzle afterwards! Council will also be holding a Community Forum at the Mona Vale Memorial Hall on Tuesday, October 29 between 6.30pm and 8.30pm to discuss the Options in more detail. SIRA and WPCA will hire a bus to take residents to and from Church Point to avoid having to move their cars! COMMUNITY FORUM UPDATE
Request for community comments on proposals for the rejuvenation of Leahvera and Cargo Wharf Reserve Areas SIRAC Parks and Reserves Working Group held a Community Forum at Cargo Reserve on September 24th. The Forum was attended by 25 residents. A series of proposals were discussed with a view to improving the cargo beach area, access to the new commuter pontoon, the Leahvera reserve area and the organisation of parking and loading areas. The discussion led to some general agreement for 10 areas of action. These are summarised in a set of meeting notes and an annotated sketch plan of the area. (These are available at HERE (PDF format)). The Working Group is now seeking any further comments/suggestions in order to prepare a proposal to Council for their support/endorsement. proposed car parking at Church Point.
Through the generosity of
the owner, the top room of the Waterfront Store at Church Point
(accessible from Thomas Stephens Reserve) will be open from 10am – 4pm on Saturday 19th October.
Building 40-60 extra car spaces will not solve the parking problem at Church Point, but it can blight its beauty forever. A committed group of on and offshore residents and design professionals, known as Church Point Friends, have come together following concerns about the character of Church Point being at threat of overdevelopment. This group includes members from our local on and offshore community associations. We are holding this information day to encourage everyone to see what options have been considered and to access reports provided to date. A model has been made that has interchangeable pieces to see the different schemes. Members of Church Point Friends will be there to assist you in reviewing the documents. We support the benefits of additional parking integrated with better management of parking demand. Church Point Friends have developed a low key, lower cost option which, we believe, provides a better waterfront public amenity whilst providing additional car parking. Pittwater Council has indicated that a Community Meeting on Church Point will be arranged in the near future, prior to going to Council in November. We urge you to drop in and familiarise yourself with the schemes. The upper deck of the Waterfront store is a wonderful vantage point to view the affected area. There will be an opportunity to provide comments, which will be forwarded to Council. Greetings Wine Lovers We have the tasting notes for our next wine tasting on Sunday October 20th, 2013, 3 - 5pm. As promised, a good sparkling in time for Christmas and many of our old favourites. I have been promised a sparkling day to match the wine and would love your company. I know many of you have probably never travelled so far west, not even on your annual holiday, but now is the chance. The transportation costs are very low due to, err, the Australian dollar and a journey either by private vessel or ferry will add to your wine tasting experience. Plenty of parking on the jetty with the Aussie flag flying. Please remember to bring along your own tasting glass, tasting notes and a platter of nibbles as a contribution.
