SIGN & SHARE: PETITION CALLING ON FIFA TO GIVE ISRAELI SETTLEMENTS THE RED CARD
|
Israel has set up six soccer clubs in illegal Israeli settlements on illegally occupied Palestinian land. FIFA laws prohibit using another country’s land without consent, and South African FIFA official, Tokyo Sexwale, is part of a FIFA investigation as to whether these teams should be allowed to participate in international football.
The illegal Israeli settlements are not only an obstacle to peace but are also illegal under international law having been condemned from the South African Government to the European Union and the USA. Israeli settlement football teams legitimise the illegal occupation and condone the suffering of the Palestinians. Palestinians aren’t allowed into the Israeli settlement stadiums, let alone allowed to play football there!

DEFYING ISRAELI PERSECUTION AND HINDRANCES, PALESTINIAN TEAM ARRIVES AT RIO 2016 OLYMPICS
|
"The flag of #Palestine was carried into the Olympics by a [Palestinian] woman. To us Palestinian men, this is no surprise. We have known for quite some time that our women are in charge."
"Also, Palestine has sent two swimmers to the Olympics, despite the fact that there are no Olympic-sized pools accessible to our athletes to train in."
"Yet, Israel, for some reason, still thinks we are going to eventually give up. They're so silly. #FreePalestine"
Due to Israel's Apartheid practices and policies, the Palestinian team taking part in the Olympic Games faced challenges few other athletes could even imagine.
The Palestinian team was forced to buy equipment and other necessary items in Brazil after Israel had prevented entry of their equipment. Israel prevented those supplies, much of which was donated by foreign governments, from reaching occupied Palestine by enforcing unfair taxes or excessive fees.
In addition, the Palestinian team had to camp abroad for several weeks in order to be able to reach Brazil without too many problems.
Israel also prevented the head of the Palestinian Olympic team from leaving the Palestinian Gaza Strip to be with his team in Brazil.
