Whew!
When it rains it pours! Happy July, all!
What a whirlwind summer its been already. When things gets crazy, do you ever stop to ask yourself, "am I just a hampster on a wheel? Am I actually getting anywhere?" I ask myself this question all.the.time. The last 2 months have been alot. Shows, travel, family obligations, and very little time to just sit. I'm convinced we all need to schedule "sitting and staring at a blank wall" into our calendars! I just did it (i stared at the ceiling actually) and now i feel like i can write this monthly update :)

Welcome new subscribers! Thank you for joining and showing up at one of last month's many shows! What a gift to be able to play for audiences in person once again! Here's what's new!

FRESH CONTENT

My Interview w/ Singer/Songwriter/Author Justin McRoberts
I'm a huge fan of artists-turned-authors b/c I happen to think artists are some of the most thoughtful, multifaceted people out there. They have a way of looking at things from all sides and seeing something new where others don't. That's the topic of my recent interview  w/ Justin McRoberts as we talk about his newly released book. "It is What You Make of It: Creating Something Great From What You've Been Given". As I continue guest hosting my friend Libby's Art & Faith Conversations podcast this year, I'm having the opportunity to interview artists, like Justin, who have made an impact in my own career. I hope you enjoy our conversation! [listen here

UPCOMING SHOWS

 SATURDAY, JULY 31, 7PM #PHILLY

If there's anything I've learned from a hectic year that's already half gone, it's that balance is absolutely necessary! For me that means playing fewer but more meaningful shows. That's why I'm so excited about the next several months of my calendar:  a handful of private house concerts, performing and leading a workshop at a women's retreat, more one-on-on coaching through Cultivators, and the following 2 public shows...

JULY 31: PHILLY - Jutuan House Concert @ The Gathering Place
[Tickets][RSVP on Facebook]

AUG 7: BETHLEHEM, PA - Musikfest 2021 [Details]

Peace and I are so excited to be splitting a show once again with our brothers from another mother...who actually happen to be brothers! Seriously...they're our favorite people! Tickets are limited for the Jutuan house concert so go get 'em!

What's that? You're considering hosting a house concert? Fine out more here.

Slow...a reflection
Most things in life (at least the important things) don't grow overnight. So often we want our lives to look like flawless fruit. Perfectly rounded, perfectly colored, identical or similar to everyone else's "amazing" lives. But you're not genetically modified. Good fruit takes time to grow. You're not going to be perfect because nothing is perfect. Your organic attempts at growth are made of grit and grind. Lots of uneventful, slow motion organic growth. It's dirt. It's all dirt. But somehow it turns into vibrant vegetation. Big and beautiful and wild! Your unrealistic expectations of overnight results are just that - unrealistic. Stay slow.
...a reminder brought to you by this head of cabbage from my neighborhood community garden.

Ok, that's really all I have to say this month! :)
Thank you for reading and see you soon,
Joy
