Psalm 100:4-5 (NKJV) Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the LORD is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations.
ENDURING TRUTH
It doesn't take much of a disagreement to put up some serious obstacles within a relationship. When I was young my best friend and I would often have a disagreement about what we wanted to do that day. Whether it was to go biking, rollerblading, or fishing down at the lake, if we couldn't agree on what we wanted to do, we would go our separate ways for a day or two. But no matter how bad the disagreement was, the truth was that as best friends and we would no doubt soon be back to our adventures.
I know I often take many of my relationships for granted. It isn't really on purpose. Things get busy and days come and go very fast. It doesn't take too long before a friend helps me realize what I'm missing. The Psalmist recalls his most important relationship and just how thankful he was for that. When I think of entering through the Lord's gates into His courts, I think of church and my relationship with my best friend Jesus Christ.
Each morning I am reminded of God's mercies in what my Savior was willing to do for me. Each day I recognize how I have in some way or other been lazy, proud, or self righteous. Those truths have endured throughout my whole life. What great joy there is in entering into His gates to hear of His unending love for me! What a Friend I have in Jesus! Like my best friend as a child, I know no matter what challenges I face in my relationships in life, with Christ, the enduring truth is that He will always love me, be willing to forgive me, and will always be there for me. And the enduring truth is that because of His resurrection from the dead, I can look forward to entering into gates to be with Him for eternity.
