Native Plant Conservation Campaign News: Researchers expect that microplatics also threaten plants.

There has been a great deal of attention to the effects of plastics on wildlife and the general environment. Now botanists are calling for research into the effects of plastics and their breakdown products – microplastics and nanoplastics – on plants.

 A soon to be published paper in New Phytologist outlines a series of threats plastic poses to plant life in. They propose and discuss pathways through which microplastics could impact plant growth, either positively or negatively.
