Jeremiah 9:24 Let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me.
I TOO AM A SAINT
I used to work at a job where I would spend a lot of time driving around from one job-site to another. Actually I didn't drive as much as I sat in the van while another fellow drove. As we would drive around we would talk about many things. One day I was explaining to Sean, the guy who usually drove, how the Bible uses the word "saint" to mean all those who are made holy in the blood of Christ; in other words, all believers. "Saint Sean," he said, "I like the way that sounds."
More than the way it sounds, I like what it means. It means that by faith, through the death of Christ, I too am set apart. I too am distinct from the nations of the world. Although we are no better than those from whom we have been set apart, yet by the grace of God we are different. All too often we forget what a blessed privilege it is to be called sons of God. Yet there is nothing that should give us greater joy than to be numbered among God's holy ones.
This is a difference with which we are to be proud. Not in an arrogant way, but in humble love of our Savior. Not with an attitude that says, "I am so much better than you," but with an attitude that says, "Look at all that Christ has done for me, come and find out what He can do for you."
All Saints' Day is a day to stand up and say, "I too am a saint of God. I too am a soldier of the cross. Let the world do what it wants to me. Let it rant and rave. Let it think me backwards and anti-progressive. I am a member of a heavenly crowd that shines with a glory that far exceeds that of Augustus, or Shakespeare, or Queen Elizabeth, or any other earthly hero. Let the world look sideways at me and despise me. I have a God who loves me and calls me His own."
