Matthew 11:27 "All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him."

GOD IS MADE KNOWN THROUGH HIS SON

Because God has clearly made Himself known to all in the power of His creation, people have always sought to know just exactly who He is. Through the natural knowledge of God that can be gained from looking at the created universe, the world, and even our own bodies, one can know that God is, but one cannot know who God is.

Over the course of history, people have come up with many of their own wrong ideas about who God is, but it is only God Himself who can reveal who He is to us. By His powerful deeds and through His powerful Word the true God made Himself known in Old Testament times as the loving, compassionate and merciful God of Israel. All along He was telling His people to look for a coming One whom He would send, One who would fulfill the promises of a Savior by bringing forgiveness of sins and salvation to His people. It would be in this Savior that the true God would make Himself known in the most important way.

As the appointed time came, God sent His Son, Jesus, into this world, born as a true human being. It is Jesus who fulfilled all of the prophecies of the Savior contained in God's Word. It is through Jesus that God enacted His plan of salvation and it is through Jesus that God has revealed Himself to this world to an extent like none other. In fact, as our Scripture passage for today says, it is only through Jesus that the one true God can be known in the most important way.

Simply put, those who truly know God are those who know Jesus and believe the promises of salvation given about Him and fulfilled through Him. Those who want to know God in the most important and necessary way need to look to Jesus to find Him.
