Hello Firstname

Wednesday 26 March
There will be no meeting at the clubrooms next week, instead the meeting will be at the QEH Theatre in Jacob Wells Rd, Clifton for the presentation of the 2014 Bristol International Salon of Photography. Entry for members will be free but you are invited to bring guests along (there will be a small charge of £4 for guests). This is one of the premier exhibitions in the UK and you can expect to see getting on for 900 of the top images in the world set to an appropriate musical background.

The theatre is on Jacobs Well Rd, Clifton and there is plenty of on street parking or a cheap multi-storey carpark directly opposite. The theatre bar will be open before the show and during the interval.

If you want any more information please email me at chairman@bristolsalon.co.uk

REMEMBER - NOBODY WILL BE AT THE CLUBROOMS, WE'LL ALL BE AT QEH THEATRE LOOKING AT SOME OF THE BEST PICTURES IN THE WORLD!

BPS Member's Book Launch
Past BPS President, Bob Faris, has recently published his fourth book, Navigating the Years 1939 - 1946. This time the subject is Bob's years as a Beaufighter navigator during WWII. I've read this Man Booker prize contender and can recommend it as an entertaining tale of one man's path through the war from his enlistment through to final promotion to Squadron Leader after the hostilities were over. To get hold of a copy of Bob's book, just follow this link and you'll be able to download your own copy. At this location you will also be able to see Bob's other entries into the literary world, Photography & Sculpture, Pictorial Polarised Abstractions and My Book of Dreams. These three photographic books are available in the club library.

Bob is not the only literary giant in the Society. Life member Mike Salter has also published a book recently. Mike's book, Caught In My Lens (Different Approaches To Photographing The Nude) is also available on Blurb (click here) and in the club library.

More Book Bargains
As a part of the rationalisation of the club library, there are a number of books that are now surplus to requirement. If you think you'd be interested in any of these, Mike Bigger would like to hear from you. You can either ring Mike on 01934 832031 or catch him at any Wednesday meeting when he will be able to let you have a list.
