Hello Firstname

Wednesday 27 February
Next Wednesday we have our own Greg Duncan giving us his take on digital photography, what you can expect is best described by Greg himself:

"It is a Straight Picture Except For ....
I am aware of the need to balance entertainment, enjoyment and seriousness in a talk to a camera club. As a consequence, you will find that my talk contains both light hearted elements, a humorous AV and samples of my images. In balance, for those who wish to understand more about digital imaging, there will be a few uncomplicated explanations of some of Photoshop's hidden quirks. The talk has been designed to appeal to all and even contains certain elements of 'magic' - some images may end up doing things that you do not expect (enough said). I am also conducting a test to see if people can discern certain aspects of an image and I would ask you to bring along a pencil or pen - I will supply the paper.

Intrigued? Then see you Wed 27 February    Greg Duncan"

Studio Group
The next studio group meeting will be on Thursday March 14th. To sign up please use the following link: The theme will be portraiture with model Esther

Bristol Salon
Closing Date Looms Ever Nearer!
The closing date for entry to the Bristol Salon is 23 March which is not far away; what is even closer is the date BPS members need to submit their entries by in order to qualify for free entry - 16 March. After that date you will have to pay the full fee which will be between £10 and £16 (the actual fee depends on the number of sections entered). As I've mentioned in previous Newsletters, it's an ideal chance for members to dip their toe in the murky waters of international exhibitions for FREE. I've attached a copy of the Salon Conditions of Entry to this newsletter so that you can see what is required.

So You Reckon The Judge Was C**p!
Are you fed up with going home after a competition night with the thought that you could have done better than the evening's judge (not the last one, I thought she was rather good! - ed)? Then the answer is possibly in your own hands - WCPF are running a judging seminar at Wick on 20 April which you are invited to attend. It's an ideal chance either to have a go at judging yourself or just to see what is involved. If you'd like to go along, you can download an application form by following this link . The cost is a meagre £5

WCPF Members' Exhibition
The closing date for the WCPF 2013 Members' Exhibition is 9 March (WCPF Council Meeting). If you still haven't entered but plan to, would you please get your prints to Danny Heaton by Wednesday 6 March and he will be able to take them to Exeter for you. You will have to have completed your entry on the WCPF web page (click here). You will be asked for your AES, which is PEL (how I hate all these acronyms, I never know what they mean - oh well, TTFN, PH)

WCPF 2013 Council Meeting & Talk
The WCPF 2013 Council Meeting takes place on Saturday 9 March at Clyst St Mary near Exeter. The official part of the day, the Council Meeting, will take place in the morning but in the afternoon Pam & Eddy Lane will be giving a talk entitled "A Tour of Northern India".

Full details of the day can be found by going to the WCPF website. All are welcome and there is no need to book, however an entry charge of £3 will be made on the door for the afternoon lecture
