"Biggie Irie"!!! is Ready to Defend.

Port-Of-Spain, Trinidad – Barbadian Singer/Songwriter Geoffrey Cordle known in the music arena as “Biggie Irie” will be defending his title of International Groovy Soca Monarch in Trinidad & Tobago at the Soca Monarch finals on Feb 1st 2008.

After creating history last February by becoming the first non-T&T national to walk away with one of the most prestigious accolades in the Soca realm, Biggie’s career has had no shortage of achievements.
In addition to successfully participating in all major Carnival events in the Caribbean, North America and the U.K., Biggie’s video for his Soca Monarch winning tune “Nah Goin Home”, topped the charts on MTV Tempo’s Cross Caribbean Countdown, securing the number one spot for a significant period

Sensation Group Heats up the 2008 Trinidad Carnival Circuit with their Single” Wuk up Ya Waist”

Miami-January 2008- There is something to be said about a name; especially when it has a great meaning and is a momentous purpose. Case in point when one makes reference to the new singing/dancing sensation group “Crossovah” who has surpassed the definition of their name. Vacillating between soca, r&b, hip-hop and reggae an every other sound in between, this growing music powerhouse group has proved themselves as one of the most promising sounds coming from an all male band today.

This stand out group consists of four talented males; Ricardo Drue of Trinidad, Christopher “Criss” Grant of Jamaica, Joshua “J-Rah” Jenkins and Dave “Kupid” Richards of Antigua. Crossovah hs been able to secure a coveted spot opening for heavy weight artists that include Sean Kingston, Machel Montano, Dawgie Slaughter and Elephant Man to name a few, while furthering their “electrifying” stage presence, as well as garnering an international fan base.
With the release of their single “Wuk Up Yuh Waist” as the 2008 Carnival season begins in Trinidad, Crossovah is set to sculpt out their artistic identity in to the fabric of the Carnival mix. The single brings the energy and emotions that everyone is used to feeling as they get excited about the culture and the music of Carnival.

West Indians and Caribbean
Americans For Obama (WIACAFO)
1. VOLUNTEERS - THE NY HQ always needs volunteers. Call or just walk in to volunteer in the office. Jackie Esposito, NY HQ, emphasized the importance of coordinating grass roots efforts with the NY HQ to best maximize our supporter base. Everyone completed a volunteer form for the NY HQ to identify specific skills/time able to donate. The office number is 212-732-2008 and ask for Shannon Anderson. For the MYBO volunteer action guide, go to: http://my.barackobama.com/page/content/actionguide.

2. PHONE BANKING is needed in the HQ Office Mon-Fri 9 AM to 8 PM, Sat/Sun 10 AM to 6 PM. You can also phone bank from home using the national campaign's Hope database. Contact Jackie for more info. Host a phone banking party.

3. VISIBILITY & CANVASSING EVENTS in NYC - Tell Voters why you support Obama. Just post an event on MYBO and you're sure to attract volunteers. Jackie suggested organizing visiblity events in major areas such as Times Square. For example, have 30 people hold Obama signs which is likely to attract press and support. Visibility will be key in NYC given the geographic limitations of canvassing here. Wear Obama buttons as much as possible at work, social events, family gatherings. New supporters will approach you to express interest in the campaign.

4. VOTER REGISTRATION - THE REGISTRATION DEADLINE for the NY Primary is Friday, Jan 11 - Jacob Klein needs help for a visibility/voter registration event this Friday. Check MYBO for details. Jacob encouraged everyone to organize visibility events in their neighborhoods. Voter Reg Forms are available at the local Board of Election offices throughout the city. You can also call Daria at 212-283-3324 to get forms. (SEE BELOW FOR VISIBILITY EVENTS)

5. FUNDRAISING - $$$$$$$ is needed. Tap into your network of friends/family for campaign donations. Create a personalized MYBO page to track your donations. Organize fundraising events. Check MYBO frequently for fundraising events happening in your area and invite friends. Brand new ObamaNYC buttons - "Fired up," "Ready to Go" and "Yes We Can" - are $2 each and spreading like wildfire. Let me know if you'd like to pick them up from me begining tomorrow.

6. GET OUT THE VOTE - The Nevada Primary is Jan 19th and SC is Jan 26th. A group of ObamaNYCers are planning a trip to SC over Martin Luther King Weekend. Volunteers are needed to organize transportation/lodging/communicate with SC HQ. Airfares will go up so make plans ASAP. Leah Kozak is organizing SC.

7. SOCIAL EVENTS - Host a Debate watch party or a primary watch parties and attract new supporters. The next debate is January 12th. The next primary is Jan 19th. Have sign in sheets at events to keep track of new supporters. Volunteers needed to host events and helping new supporters get plugged into MYBO, the NY HQ, and ObamaNYC.

8. COMMUNICATION - Volunteers needed to communicate with ObamaNYC members, new volunteers, and other organizations. Media should be directed to the NY HQ at this time. Given the time constraints, email is the best way to communicate with a groupo of volunteers. Join obamaNYC@googlegroups.com
