RANGER REPORT & Mon., Feb. 26

"As the love of God is immeasurably great, so no one has as yet fathomed the depth of music. It is the love-language of the soul; it is the medium between this and the other world, between the natural and the supernatural."

Well for starters, drummer Mr. Jimmy Cavanaugh and I both got new vans this month. Well maybe not "new" but "new-ish"…Jim's van has a superior heating system but my van has some seriously tinted windows…Special thanks to Master G. Best in Cambodia.

What a month…Los Manatees rocked them at Tiffany's Graduation/Birthday Bash in Kulpsville, PA (congrats Tiff!)….a week later Los Manatees levitated them at The Funhouse in Bethlehem, PA (they couldn't have squeezed one more person into that place)…a week later Los Manatees frenzied them at Big Head's in Warminster, PA (the staff told us that we were the first band to ever get an encore there. It's a rather tough crowd.)…and then just last week Los Manatees played at the official grand opening of the new Rising Sun in Telford, PA. It was a charity event with thousands of dollars being raised for Grandview Hospital. There was a silent auction and one of the items was a private Los Manatees concert. The bidding was fierce but when the smoke had cleared the prize went to Ms. "Red" Molly and her friends.

The following night we were at Agave in Ambler, PA with singer Kathleen Weber, blues harpist Aaron DeAngelo, and saxophonist John Bian joining the band. 24 hours later we were performing at The Limerick Inn with founding member singer/songwriter Ray Adkins.

There's a new young band on the scene these days called "Three Legged Fox". Led by Kyle Wareham this quartet has just put out their first CD. This band has been known to play an original Los Manatees song or two at their shows so they must be pretty good…Check them out at www.threeleggedfoxlive.com or www.myspace.com/threeleggedfox

Manatee Fun Fact: Did you know that the lead guitarist from our drummer Jimmy Cavanaugh's former band "Wanderlust" is married to singer Carnie Wilson, daughter of Beach Boy Brian Wilson? It's true!

Coming up in March: Bob Powell's St. Patrick's Day Barn Dance in Lahaska, PA…Our glorious return to The Sandtrap in Limerick, PA on Fri., March 23 featuring the glorious return of The Rhino Horns!

Manatee Fun Fact: Did you know that Wed., March 28 is our drummer Jimmy Cavanaugh's birthday? It's true!

We have one song finished for the new album. It's called "Angelina" and it features Little Feat drummer Ritchie Hayward. Now we just have to mix the other seven songs. Producer David Ivory continues to put out fires of one kind or another…

Manatee Fun Fact: Did you know that guitarist Ranger Will is a direct descendant of Alexander Selkirk, the true-life inspiration for Daniel Defoe's novel, "Robinson Crusoe"? It's true!

Stay warm y'all,

-Ranger Will
