Tree Cleanup Saturday Morning @ 8:30 AM
|
|
We will be having a town wide tree cleanup Saturday morning beginning at 8:30 AM.
We will meet in the park at the Southwest Pavilion at 8:30 AM for donuts and Orange Juice, divide into crews and spread throughout town to help our friends and neighbors recover from the tree disaster.
Bring chain saws, gloves, boots, safety glasses, trailers, trucks, rakes and any other tools that will help with the clean up.
We have compiled a list of residents with downed trees and will attempt to help them clean up.
We hope to finish up by noon or so.
Today we had a crew of 21 from the Weber County Correctional facility who worked extremely hard to cut and clean up a substantial portion of the downed trees in the park and around town. Special thanks to WCSO Deputy and Huntsville Native Jodi Bailey for overseeing these guys and gals. There is a high demand for their services throughout the county and we are very fortunate to have Jodi who has gone out of her way to ensure that Huntsville gets to take advantage of the free labor.
The community service workers will be helping us out with other projects in coming weeks. If you see them, be sure to tell them and their deputy supervisors thanks for the excellent job they are doing.
I have been very impressed by their hard work over the past few weeks and have never seen anyone so appreciative of a simple thank you. The workers like to get out for a few hours and work hard while they are out.

Bountiful Baskets now in Huntsville
|

Many of you know all about Bountiful Baskets, but they have come to Huntsville! They will be located at the Huntsville Fire station every Saturday morning fron 7:30-7:45.
You can also come and volunteer an hour early for an extra gift. Your orders need to go in Monday morning from 10:00 until Tuesday night at 10:pm for the upcoming Saturday pick-up.
This is a fresh produce co-op. If you want to know more about them check out their web page. This is a great way to get affordable fresh produce.

Huntsville will celebrate Arbor Day in conjunction with Valley Elementary's Third Grade. The students will sing songs and present poems for Arbor Day. The celebration will be held in the East Kiva of the school on Wednesday, April 27th, at 12:45 pm. All are invited to attend. Huntsville has been presented with its 6th Year as a Tree City USA.

Gasoline Thefts in Huntsville

In the past week there have been at least two incidents in town...
where gasoline has been syphoned from vehicles or tanks. Both instances were on 200 South between 7000 and 7200 E.
Be sure to report any suspicious activity to the Weber County Sheriff's Office.

Green Waste Facility (aka Landfill/dump) Now Open
|
|
Green waste facility open on Saturdays and Wednesdays (weather permitting)...
Saturdays 10 am - 2 pm
Wednesdays 6:30 PM - 8 PM
The facility will remain open throughout the season on Saturdays and on Wednesday evenings as long as there is a demand.
Only green waste is allowed.

Congratulations to our newest Town Council Member

Congratulations to Laurie Allen ... Laurie is a lifelong resident of Huntsville and was selected to serve on the Town Council to fill the remaining 8 months of Councilman Steve Johnson's term. Laurie will be sworn in during the next town council meeting on April 21, 2011.
Many qualified and talented residents volunteered for the position and we sincerely thank them for their desire to serve.
Our sincere thanks goes out to Steve Johnson and his family. Steve has served the citizen's of Huntsville with honor, dignity and dedication and we have enjoyed working with him.
Steve and his family will be moving to Wyoming for a few months and we wish them well on their endeavor.

Huntsville Has A New Full Color Copy Machine That is Available For Use
|
|
The town of Huntsville recently replaced their aging copy machine with a full color copy machine. To assist with the expense, the machine will be available for residents who need color or black and white copies.
The prices will be competitive with copy centers in Ogden and will be available when Gail or Ramona are at the Town Hall - typically weekday mornings, but call before you make a special trip. 801-745-3420.

About Bountiful Baskets Co-op
Bountiful Baskets is not a business. It is a group of people who work together for mutual benefit. We are up front and open about how things work.
Bountiful Baskets Food Co-op is constantly growing to reach new areas as volunteers want to have a co-op site close to their home. They train with an existing Volunteer Site Coordinator and request a site to be added. We run at least every two weeks at each site. We are completely volunteer-run and make no profit. We have the following distribution sites and look forward to adding other distribution sites as volunteers are trained and ready to open them! Please see our locations page for a complete listing of current sites.
This is a Co-op
This is a grass roots, all volunteer, no contracts, no catch co-operative. Without volunteers this co-op wouldn’t happen, so you will need to help as you are able. There are many opportunities to participate!
Reasons to Participate
- This is a great deal and you are helping others get a great deal, too. With the conventional produce offering, you get approximately $50 worth of grocery store-quality produce.
- This co-op encourages a healthier lifestyle.
- You meet great people!
How the Co-op works
As a group, we purchase items at deep discounts. Items are then distributed evenly among participants. Some details:
- Use this website to make monetary contributions toward the pools of money used to purchase product(s)
- Contribute the amount required for participation in each pool by the deadline(s) listed (see Contribution Timeline table on the homepage)
- Additional details about products are available at Current Offerings
- For produce baskets, we purchase from a warehouse that supplies produce to many local restaurants and grocery stores. This is the same produce you would get from a restaurant or store.
Basket contents
We get a variety of high-quality seasonal produce. We balance variety with seasonality in order to get the most appealing and cost-effective basket possible. We also choose to use local produce first when available, then regional produce (California, Utah, Colorado, Northern Mexico!)
Each week different items will be in the Bountiful Basket! We base the basket contents on what is in season, high quality, good value, and local. We generally have 6 fruit items & 6 vegetable items. We focus on what would be well received in our homes, and the extensive surveys we’ve done with participants over the past 5 years to know what families eat.
