Shine a Spotlight on Plant Imperilment - Nominate a Plant for the Endangered Species Coalition Top 10 Endangered Species Report. Deadline September 19.
September 14, 2018

Dear Plant Conservation Leader:

Does your organization know of one or more imperiled plants that are charismatic, ecologically important, and badly need more conservation attention? Nominate your species for the 2019 Top 10 Report!

The Endangered Species Coalition (ESC) is asking for species nominations for its annual America’s Top 10 Endangered Species report. The purpose of the report is to raise awareness about the ongoing threats to endangered species.

Deadline to return nominations to the ESC: September 19, 2018
(We apologize for the short notice!)

The ESC is asking for nominations of species that have documented importance in maintaining ecosystem function. These are vulnerable species that are ecological engineers, e.g. provide pollinator habitat, maintain wetland function, act as refugia, etc. Ensuring that these species are saved helps save their shared ecosystems.

Why Do This?
The report will help raise the profile of these species and their conservation needs. Groups whose nominations are included in the report will be asked to assist with promotion of the ESC report, including promotion of your own efforts to protect the species.

Groups whose nominations are included in the report receive:
Eligible Species
Any species that resides in the United States which is
1) Federally listed as threatened or endangered,
2) a species on the candidate conservation list,
3) a species recently delisted, or
4) a species that has been petitioned for listing.
Species that do not fall into these categories, but for which the science shows dramatic declines may also be nominated.
