John 17:1 And this is ETERNAL LIFE, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
WHOM YOU HAVE SENT
I had put off sending the gift package way too long. It was always on the back burner, but it didn't get done sooner when I hoped it would. I always had good intentions of sending it, but it just felt like a lower priority than everything else I was running around doing.
Isn't our faith sometimes like that? It's easy to put off for another time. But time is running out. We may have the best of intentions, know it needs to get done, but we find all kinds of excuses not to make it the priority it needs to be.
In Jesus' high priestly prayer He prays for ALL of His disciples then and now to focus on ETERNAL LIFE as the priority. In Matthew 6:33 Jesus says, "But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness." That doesn't sound like a back burner task. Neither did Jesus think that way about you, when He took on our flesh to suffer hell's punishment for us. "For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost ... No one comes to the Father except through Me" (Luke 19:10; John 14:6b).
This is why Jesus, God's Son, came to this world. This is why He was sent by the Father ... for you! That YOU would know Him, the only true God. That you would know Him as your own dear Savior, and have eternal life. And that you would also see, through the work of God's Spirit in you, that you too have been sent by Jesus into this world to share this eternal life!
Life is racing by while we are running around with lesser priorities. To whom has Jesus sent you today? What gift have you and I put off sharing way too long? May our Savior's love fuel you to share His love today, because He was sent for you. And you were sent by Jesus for them!
