Projected Image Competition - Round 1
|
Next Wednesday is the closing date for Round 1 of the new season of the Projected Image Competition. As usual, send your entries to competitions@bristolphoto.org.uk; please make sure that your images are sent as a jpeg attachment and not as an image emebedded into the body of your email (a problem with some MAC users I believe). Any queries, I'm sure Jeff will be only too pleased to help you (email as above)

All members are welcome at next Monday's meeting of the Digital Imaging Group. As usual the meeting will be at 7.30 at the clubrooms and members are encouraged to bring any work they may want to present in print or on a memory stick (jpg format please) or raise questions on any aspects of digital imaging.
Inspired by a couple of recent speakers at the club showing their creative work Ashwin would like include a technical 'Five or ten minute - Hint and Tips section' during the evening. He will start this next Monday with the intention that it may be a new technique for some or be a refresher for others.
And don't forget Ashwin's Chocolate Suggestives!

Club members, Sue O'Connell and Peter Brisley, giving the thumbs up to the death of some poor gladiator whilst on holiday in Indonesia, I guess, looking at the gear on view, that the poor recipient was a Nikon user!
Some of you may think I've got it completely wrong (I haven't!) and that it was thumbs down for death, well that was only in the movies. In reality if you got the thumbs down, you walked: it was thumbs up you dreaded as that meant death. If you want to read more about the ups and downs of thumbs, have a look at this web page.

Following the successful WCPF advisory workshops in 2010, 2012 & 2013, there has been demand for another workshop. The aim is to provide advice on your images prior to the adjudications for the Awards. To read further details of this event and to book a place, please download the details & form here. The workshop is being held on Saturday 17th January - from 10.00 am to 4.30 pm, at the Village Hall, Clyst St Mary, near Exeter

Last week I mentioned that Nick Ayers had been awarded a ribbon in the 2014 RPS Digital Imaging Group Projected Image Competition - unfortunately Nick didn't get a copy of the image to me in time, however it has now arrived and is reproduced below - well worth the wait:
Mammoth Springs 2
If you want to blow your own trumpet (or someone else's), then this is the place to do it. Please let me know and I'll include details in a future issue.

Items will remain in this section for one month from the date of insertion or until notification of sale, whichever is the sooner.

12/09
LAST CHANCE! Jettec ink cartridges - 6 x E07 (Black) and 3 x E09 (Colour), these are replacements for Epson T007 & T009. These normally retail at £3.99 & £4.99 respectively - a snip at £15 for the lot! They're not old, it's just that I bought them and immediately afterwards my printer went belly up!
If you have something photographic that you want to sell, let me have the details and I will circulate them to a captive audience of photographers through the Newsletter - send to the usual address.

If you have anything you think other members would like to know about, such as exhibitions, special events etc. please let me know at newsletter@bristolphoto.org.uk
