New Database Helps Gardeners Find Site-Specific Native Plants
January 16, 2016

SF Plant Finder is a new online database that allows users to find site specific information on what native plant species are appropriate for their neighborhood. It helps park managers, businesses, homeowners and others plant gardens and landscapes that are best suited to their area’s specific microclimates and soils.

The project is expected to encourage gardeners to plant natives and support native pollinators and other wildlife in the city.  Native gardens also cut chemical use and save water during California’s ongoing drought.

The database was developed with the input of experts from the California Native Plant Society, local universities, and others.
