CALLING ALL DESIGNGERS! STITCH LONDON WANTS TO HELP YOU

So you're a budding designer. You have started to create your own patterns. You have conjured up some cool crochet, natty knitting, splendiferous sewing or chic cross stitch patterns and you want to world to make them too. How on earth do you get people to see you when there are so many others out there?! EEP!

Stitch London to the rescue! As of right now there are 106011 members on the Stitch London mailing list. That is a whole load of crafty characters. All of those people utterly love craft. They love free stuff. They totally understand what it means to handmake something. And they'd love to know all about you.

In 2012 Stitch London are launching our Stitch London Sparks campaign. We're looking for bright sparks in the world of stitch design to show off and share your patterns and help you off on the road to handmade glory.

Who can apply? Anyone who designs patterns for any craft involving stitching - knitting, sewing, crochet, embroidery, cross stitch (and probably a few we forgot).

How do I apply? Drop us an email at stitchsparks@stitchLDN.com with the subject heading "I'm a Stitch London Spark! Pick me!" and your email address by December 1st. After this date we'll send out a link to our application form for more info.

What will it cost? Nothing at all. Stitch London has always encouraged makers and knows very well how hard it is to get started making a living from your makes. If we can help you then we will. Giving is good for you.

Why on earth do you keep doing things for free? If you're confused about why Stitch London keeps on giving you can read all about it over at Whodunnknit. If you want to help Stitch in return click on newsletter ads, buy our stuff or spread the word and get people to join our mailing list.

Join the ranks of the Stitch London sparks and start making the world a more handmade place. Go on.

EXCLUSIVE EVENT: MEET THE PIGEONS AT ALLY PALLY (BOOK SIGNING)

If you're heading to Alexandra Palace's Knitting and Stitching Show this weekend you're invited to come and meet a whole flock of Stitch London knits, and get your copy of Stitch London signed by Lauren and Cooey the Pigeon (she writes amazingly well for a knitted pigeon).

You'll get the chance to see many of Stitch London's knits in the fluffy flesh and meet our family of knitted pigeons from our one-legged pirate pigeon, to our exotic Mauritian pink pigeon, to a pigeon inspired by the Peanuts Comic Strip.

You can meet the pigeons at the Knitting and Stitch Show on Saturday 8th October! Find us on the Sew Good Books Stall at 2.30pm. Stand J41. More info here.

COMPETITION: FIND THE PIGEON + WIN A WHOLE LOAD OF KNITTING GOODIES
Cooey? Cooooooey? COOEEEEEEEY?!?!? Where on earth did she go? One minute she's safely tucked into the front of every book in kit form and the next she's been knitted and has flown out the window. If you have any idea where she is please let Knit the Pigeon know and in return there are yarny rewards!

So far we have had two lucky winners and there are eight more weeks to go!!!

How does it work?
Every single week for the next 10 weeks Cooey (that's me) will flap off into London and land in a famous place.

Knit the Pigeon will put up three picture clues for you to guess where she ends up. A new image will be revealed on three different days with each a bit easier than one before.

What can you win? Knit the Pigeon have bagged a whole load of prizes from Coats Craft UK and All the Fun of the Fair. There'll be a new hamper of prizes every single week. Coo!

How do I enter? Flutter over to www.knitthepigeon.com and fill out the form to enter. Terms and conditions on the website.

Please find Cooey before she gets lost and ends up in a pigeon pie!
